Co-Founders Gab & Chris Moore
Sailors Grave Brewing is named after a small cove in the deep Sou'East of Gippsland where Gab's family had a beach hut since the 1920s. Gab spent every summer here in her childhood. It was a sandy shantytown with a pub set up in the dunes - the embodiment of freedom, community and wild merry making.
The Brewery began when the Moores packed up their hectic inner-city life and moved to the family farm perched on the coast. There Chris unleashed his passion for all grain home brewing (and a bit of baking, butchery and bike riding). The seed of Sailors Grave Brewing was sown.
An epic full-family campervan tour of American breweries was undertaken. Amazing characters were met, full of crazy tales and plenty of good advice. The best being - brew beer you want to drink and stay true to your passions. The Moores reurned home to discover the spirit of Sailors Grave beer.
All beer is based on water, yeast, malt and hops, but the heart of Sailors Grave Brewing is the environment: beer inspired by the ever present wind-swept coast, gathered bush botanicals, salt from the sea, wild yeasts from the Snowy River plains and the heady flovours of historical trade routes.
