Our beers are shaped by the agricultural and maritime history of the Deep Sou'East, and the pristine wilderness we call home.

Sailors Grave Brewing is named after a small cove in the deep Sou'East of Gippsland where Gab's family had a beach hut since the 1920s. Gab spent every summer here in her childhood. It was a sandy shantytown with a pub set up in the dunes - the embodiment of freedom, community and wild merry making.

The brewery began when the Moores packed up their hectic inner-city life and moved to the family farm perched on the coast. There Chris unleashed his passion for all grain home brewing. The seed of Sailors Grave Brewing was sown.

An epic full-family campervan tour of American breweries was undertaken. Amazing characters were met, full of crazy tales and plenty of good advice. The best advice being - brew beer you want to drink and stay true to your passions. The Moores returned home with the spirit of Sailors Grave taking shape.

Our first brewery was the historic Orbost Butter Factory, a building that once sat at the heart of East Gippsland's dairy industry. There, Gab & Chris brewed our first beer, Down She Gose, and began shaping a brewery inspired by the people, produce and wild places of this region.

In 2024 we moved to Dunetown between Marlo and Cape Conran, just across the road from Gab's family farm where the idea for Sailors Grave first began. As we celebrate ten years of brewing, Dunetown represents everything we've worked towards over the past decade: a coastal farmhouse brewery with the space to grow, welcome visitors, and bring together great beer, local food, art and community. It's the beginning of a new chapter, and we're excited to see where the next ten years take us.
