Our Story
Co-Founders Gab & Chris Moore
Sailors Grave Brewing is named after a small cove in the deep Sou'East of Gippsland where Gab's family had a beach hut since the 1920s. Gab spent every summer here in her childhood. It was a sandy shantytown with a pub set up in the dunes - the embodiment of freedom, community and wild merry making.

The Brewery began when the Moores packed up their hectic inner-city life and moved to the family farm perched on the coast. There Chris unleashed his passion for all grain home brewing (and a bit of baking, butchery and bike riding). The seed of Sailors Grave Brewing was sown.

An epic full-family campervan tour of American breweries was undertaken. Amazing characters were met, full of crazy tales and plenty of good advice. The best being - brew beer you want to drink and stay true to your passions. The Moores reurned home to discover the spirit of Sailors Grave beer.

All beer is based on water, yeast, malt and hops, but the heart of Sailors Grave Brewing is the environment: beer inspired by theever present wind-swept coast, gathered bush botanicals, salt from the sea, wild yeasts from the Snowy River plains and the heady flovours of historical trade routes.

Watch Chris & Gab Talk Beer
Chris and Gab were invited to talk with James and Will at The Crafty Pint Podcast for their very first episode.

Joe Lyward
Our Main Man
We found Joe after months of searching the internet world, looking, stalking, pondering. We were looking for something that said Sailors Grave Brewing... and he looked like he spoke our language! We invited him to come and stay with us for a while, we shared beer, the love of whales and a deeper understanding of what Sailors Grave Brewing is, but most importantly what it looked like!

Kathleen Neeley
Kathleen Neeley is an artist specializing in relief printmaking and illustration. She received a B.F.A. and M.A. from the University of Oklahoma. Her work is influenced by nature, fiction, music, medieval and ancient art, myths, ukiyo-e , folk art, and the decorative arts. It interprets personal and some less personal subjects - our ongoing climate crisis, for one - as characters in the myths and rituals of a fictional culture.

Gab Moore
Sailors Grave Brewing co-founder and dabbler in the arts, you will see her work pop up from time to time and there will more of her work in the future if she can find the time that is!
